Japanese Cedar Gives You Healing

A premium mattress. A perfectly contoured pillow. Yes, those things matter.

But the quality of your sleep isn’t determined by your bedding alone.

Ask yourself this: is the space where you sleep actually breathing?

Most furniture today is built from chemically bonded plywood or cold, utilitarian steel pipes. Affordable, yes — but lifeless. The bedroom that’s supposed to restore you after a long day… has it become nothing more than a box for sleeping?

Bring the forest into your home. Experience absolute silence. Sleep inside the very framework that holds a house together.

The Problem with Most Beds — and How We Solved It

One of the most common complaints about assembled beds is creaking. That faint squeaking every time you turn over is a small but persistent stress that quietly undermines your sleep.

We eliminated that stress through structure.

  • 105mm square solid posts — The same 3.5-sun cedar columns used as structural framing in traditional Japanese homes form all four legs of this bed.
  • 105mm × 150mm side rails — What supports your body isn’t a “plank.” It’s a beam. This massive cedar member absorbs load with authority.

The joinery combines traditional Japanese zairai (mortise-and-tenon) construction with concealed metal hardware — a hybrid approach where the interlocking rigidity of wood-on-wood is reinforced from within by professional-grade fasteners.

No matter how much you move in your sleep, what greets you is soundless security. No flex. No noise. Just the profound stillness of a deep forest, where you simply… drift off.

Why Cedar?

Why are we so committed to solid cedar? Because cedar carries a remarkable power — the power to help you sleep.

  • Natural aromatherapy — Cedar contains a compound called cedrol, scientifically shown to regulate the autonomic nervous system and promote restful sleep.
  • Humidity regulation you can feel — Solid cedar acts as a natural air purifier. It absorbs moisture from night sweats and releases it when the air turns dry — keeping your sleeping environment comfortably balanced year-round.
  • Absolute silence — The mass of 105mm posts combined with traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery produces a rigidity that simply will not creak.

The Experience of Building It Yourself

Wood meeting wood. That moment is where attachment begins.

This bed is assembled by your own hands. Fitting beam to post. Building your own place of rest, piece by piece. The moment the last joint clicks into place, a rich wave of cedar fragrance rises around you — and your life sleeping inside the forest begins.

Open the box and the scent hits you first — deep, living cedar.

What Saimoku Home delivers, after 36 years working with wood, is not a piece of furniture. It’s a transformation. A carefully curated set of solid cedar pieces that turns any room into a deep-forest study or bedroom, immediately.

We have spent decades building homes for families. But in today’s world, what does truly rich living actually mean?

When you start a new chapter of your life, what furniture will you choose?

“Damage a plywood piece and it deteriorates. Damage solid cedar and it becomes family history. Ten years from now, one pass of sandpaper and a coat of oil — and the wood breathes out fresh fragrance again.”

Saimoku Home. Built from Japanese cedar. Built to last a lifetime.
